Reader and writers groups

For information on creative writing opportunities in libraries, poetry and readers groups.

Coventry Libraries and Information Services offer support for Coventry people who are interested in reading or writing. Our library staff are happy to help you with information on the latest literary prizes, to put you in touch with publishers and help organise literary events.

Readers Groups

We offer facilities for readers groups in our libraries where avid readers can get to grips with the latest books in a friendly atmosphere. The service offers groups access to all the latest book (PDF). If there isn’t a group near you we will be happy to help you start one.

We run readers groups at:

AVID Readers group meets on the second Thursday of each month at Earlsdon Library from 8.00pm contact 024 7678 6970

Arena Park Community Library, the group meet on the third Tuesday of every month from 10.00am to 11.00am. refreshments are available. For more information please contact Arena Park Library on 024 7678 5181.

Bell Green Library meet on the second Monday of the month from 6.00pm to 7.00pm  - contact the library for the next date on 024 7678 5818 or at bellgreen.library@coventry.gov.uk

Tile Hill Library every Thursday from 9.30am to 11.00am (term time only) contact Tile Hill Library on 024 7678 6785.

Finham Library meet on a Friday every four weeks from 10.00am to11.30am  contact Finham library  on 024 7678 6974.

Foleshill Library's Book Club on the second Thursday of every month at 10.30am  contact Foleshill Library on 024 7678 6977.

Stoke Library meet at 2.00pm on the second Wednesday of every month - contact 024 7678 6990.

Willenhall Library meet at 6.30pm on the first Thursday of every month - contact 024 7678 6991.

BBC Readers Coventry Libraries and Information Services are pleased to announce their support and involvement in the Readers Group at the BBC Open Centre. The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 11.00am. Please contact the BBC 0845900 5300 for further details. 

The Gallery usually meet on the third Tuesday of every month from 7.30pm but this is prone to change if there is an exhibition taking place. Contact The Gallery  024 7671 3222

Irish Elders Readers Group meet at the Irish Elders Centre, St Columbas close, Radford, Coventry CV1  4BX , every Thursday morning 11.30am to 12.30pm. Please telephone 024 7622 1600 for more information.

Poetry Groups

Rainbow Writers/Narrators Group is a Poetry Group which meets in the Central Library on the first Sunday of the month 1.00pm to 3.00pm.  Poets with languages other than Asian languages are invited/welcomed. For more information please email: Surinder.singh@coventry.gov.uk.

Coventry Live Poets' Society aims to promote reading, writing and enjoyment of all kinds of poetry. Meetings are at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday in the month at Council House, Earl St, Coventry.

Interested in poetry? Whether you enjoy reading poetry or you write yourself, you will find materials to support you available from the library service.

Writers Groups

Creative Writing Group

Creative Writing Group in Stoke Community Library, at 1.00pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Everybody is welcome to come along to read, discuss and discover his or her own writing styles over a cup of coffee!
