Encyclopaedias and online information

Coventry Libraries and Information Service has purchased online access to Encyclopaedia Britannica , Oxford Reference online  and NewsBank Access U.K. & Ireland Newspapers  These services are available to Coventry Libraries and Information Services customers free of charge.

Encyclopaedia Britannica

 
To use Encyclopaedia Britannica online you will need your library ticket number. This is the number by the barcode on your ticket. It will start with the numbers 28002 followed by 9 numbers. 28002xxxxxxxxx

If you do not have a library ticket starting with these numbers please ask at the library for a new ticket.

Information on how to use the Encyclopaedia Britannica online

  • Britannica Junior (Age Group 5 to 11)
  • Britannica Student (Age Group 12 to 18) 
  • Encyclopaedia Britannica (Age Group 18 and Up)

Oxford Reference online

Online access to Grove Art Online; Grove Music Online; Oxford Dictionary of National Biography; Oxford English Dictionary and  Oxford Reference Online using your library card. 

To use any of the following follow the links below and put in your library card number prefixed with COV in the box for library card number.( COV needs to be in capital letters)

COV28002xxxxxxxxx where x is any digit. Please do not put in the spaces from your barcode number.

NewsBank Access U.K. & Ireland Newspapers

To use NewsBank you will need your library card as you will have to enter the number in the box on to the screen (without any spaces e.g. 28002xxxxxxxx) please visit our NewsBank page for more informationOther online sources
