Gemma Malley, prizewinning author of the book Declaration which won the Read IT Or Else poll last year opened the Golden envelopes and announced the winners  at a special event at Central Library.

Cllr Blundell, Cabinet Member, Children Learning and Young People said "The Coventry Inspiration Book Awards continue to grow and it's great to see the amount of people getting involved increasing year by year. It's a great way to get everyone reading."

Joy Court, Learning Resources Manager, and organiser of the awards said "There were some really close battles in many categories and at 3122  we have the highest ever number of votes cast Hits on the website www.myvotescoventry.org  since the  current polls launched in October 2009 stand at an astonishing 982,991! This is a 62% increase on the whole of last year!  We are well on target to reach our target of 1 million hits by our awards ceremony in June!"

Internationally famous children's author Morris Gleitzman has e-mailed the organisers to say: "I’m delighted Thomas has made it through such a vigorous voting process with such discerning and articulate readers. I must say this is the best-structured kids’ voting process I’ve seen. Congratulations to all who put it together."

Ceremony will be held at  St Mary’s Hall on 16 June 2010.
