Public Waste Recycling and Disposal Facility (The Tip)

Procedures and information about the Public Waste Recycling and Disposal Facility, which is a service available exclusively to domestic ratepayers of the City of Coventry.

Materials that can be recycled either wholly or partially include:

• Televisions / Monitors
• Computers
• Oil
• White goods / electrical
• Paper / Cardboard
• Aluminium cans
• Glass bottles
• Green waste
• Batteries
• Textiles / Books / Shoes
• Gas bottles
• Iron / steel

Materials that can be disposed of include:

• Soil / bricks / rubble
• Bulky items / furniture
• Burnable
• Asbestos

Availability

Cars, small vans (escort size) and trailers less than 1.2 metres wide and less than 1.8 metres high can visit without appointment during the opening times below. Larger vans of the Transit type, pick-ups and vehicles with trailers more than 1.2 metres wide  and 1.8 metres high must to be booked in.

Vehicle bookings

Each resident is entitled to eight visits free of charge a year using a transit type van, pick-up or trailer. Lorries are not allowed.

Time slots are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. No vans will be admitted without an allocated time slot. The slots are allocated from 8am - 5pm weekdays; 8am - 4pm Saturdays and 9am - 4pm Sundays. At least 24 hours notice is normally required, but several days' notice may be necessary to obtain a booking over weekends and holiday periods. It is important to keep to the allocated time slot.

We will require your postcode, full address and details of the waste you are taking to the tip. We will also require the registration number of the vehicle (if known) and whether it is hired.

We will give you a reference number at the time of booking which you will have to quote at the tip to gain admittance.

Opening times

The Public Waste Recycling and Disposal Facility opening times are as follows:

From 1 April to 30 September:   

• Monday to Saturday 8.00am to 7.00pm
• Sunday 9.00am to 5.00pm

From 1 October to 31 March:  

• Monday to Saturday 8.00am to 6.00pm
• Sunday 9.00am to 5.00pm

Last vehicles are admitted 15 minutes before the closing time.
