Service standards

You can help us by:

putting your bins out for collection by 7.00 am on the designated collection day
not overfilling your container. Keep the lid closed and only use the container for the correct materials
not leaving any additional bags of rubbish alongside your bins. We can only collect waste that is contained in the bin with the lid closed
not filling your container with heavy objects, such as rubble or soil
taking care to separate your waste using the recycling containers and facilities provided
recycling as much of your waste as possible in your recycling bin
being considerate when parking. Vehicles blocking access make refuse collection difficult
returning your container to your property as soon as possible after it has been emptied
ensuring access is available for the collection of "extra waste" on the appointed day
making use of the recycling banks sited in your area

make a regular collection of your household waste
make a regular collection of your recycling bin
make a regular collection of your green waste
collect waste and recycling containers on your scheduled collection day. If your bin was out by 7am and we are notified on the same day of a failure to collect it we will return and collect it within 24 hours
on request, provide assisted collections for residents with limited mobility where there is not an able bodied person living in the property
on request, provide smaller bins. When smaller recycling bins are requested, smaller rubbish bins will also be provided
on request, provide an additional recycling bin if required
on request, provide an additional rubbish bin for larger families, normally more than six people in a household
on request, provide larger bins for communal use
replace bins damaged by the Council free of charge
replace stolen bins free of charge
offer appointments to collect "extra refuse" from households on request
provide an accessible Public Waste Recycling and Disposal Facility (the tip) open 363 days per year
operate recycling "banks" across the city to provide further choice for public recycling
treat all waste in accordance with the law and with consideration to the environment and our customers
recycle more
be courteous, helpful and polite at all times
