Household waste and recycling
The Council is responsible for the collection and disposal of household waste. This is a vital service that makes the area a healthy, safe and clean place to live.
Household waste
When is my bin collection day?
The household waste collection map shows household waste collection areas and days.
Household refuse is mainly collected by a wheeled bin service, although some residents may have to use our orange bag collection service. The service is carried out Tuesday-Friday weekly except during the Christmas and New Year period. We will endeavour to empty your bin on the same day each week but if, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have not done this please leave your bin out for collection the following day.
How do I dispose of large or bulky items?
You can dispose of your bulky items, such as fridges, metals, furniture and mattresses, at the tip (public Waste Recycling and Disposal Facility) on Bar Road, off London Road CV3 4AN or, for a small charge, we can arrange a special bulky waste collection.
We also offer a skip service for your domestic property, which is for all general household items.
Recycling
When will my recycling be collected?
The recycling is collected on your household waste collection day.
The paper, cardboard, plastic, food cans and glass recycling (Blue lidded bin scheme) and green garden waste recycling (brown lidded bin scheme) are collected on alternate weeks.
What recycling facilities are available?
- Water butts (available from Severn Trent Water)
- Garden waste composting
- the Furniture Recycling Network (for furniture that you wish to donate to charity)
- Recycling banks (search by postcode)
