Supplementary planning guidance (SPG) can take the form of :

Adopted SPGs will have been subject to extensive public consultation.

Those that are draft may still be within the consultation period and you will be advised of this when opening the link.

All SPG guidance is monitored, revised or revoked from time to time in response to changing circumstances.

Extending your home

Advice to householders and their agents as to best practice in terms of planning and designing extensions to residential dwellings. They constitute Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) to the Coventry Development Plan, which was adopted in December 2001.

Affordable housing

This Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) supplements the planning policies contained in the Coventry Development Plan 2001. It clarifies the role that it is expected that the Council, Landowners/Developers and Registered Social Landlords will undertake in the provision of affordable housing. It aims to provide Developers with guidance that will assist negotiations and the preparation of development proposals and seeks to provide greater certainty and a more consistent approach to dealing with planning applications.

In accordance with PPS 3 Affordable Housing is required on all development of 15 houses or more and this is a change to the details shown within the adopted SPG .

Design guidance for new residential development

The standards are considered to be the minimum that achieve basic levels of design layout for new residential development and were adopted as SPG to Coventry Development Plan 2001

Area Character Statement and Design Guidelines and Designation of Two Conservation Areas approved a committee 4th September 2003 to be treated as SPG to the Coventry Development Plan 2001.

Design guidelines for development in Coventry's ancient arden - an historic landscape area

This study considers the need for, and proposes, local design -guidelines for developers, land managers and local residents, in the only extensive area of open countryside within the City of Coventry adopted May 1995 and to be treated as SPG to the Coventry Development Plan 2001.

Installation of security shutters and grilles

The City Council adopted guidelines on the 'Installation of security shutters and grilles' on the 8 July 1992 and made a revision to those guidelines as they applied to the Far Gosford Street Conservation Area on the 26 October 1994 in acknowledgement that the area had greater security needs. They are to be treated as SPG to the Coventry Development Plan 2001.
