Canley Regeneration
Following lots of consultation across Canley and thanks to all of your comments, an outline planning application has now been approved for Canley. It is based on the masterplan you agreed in 2007 and includes your priorities for:
- Building new, high quality homes
- A new community building
- Improved neighbourhood services and facilities
- Helping people into work and training
- New and improved greenspace, play and leisure facilities
- Improvements to shopping areas and support for local shops
- Better streets and resident parking schemes
- More facilities for young people and families
- Improved routes for travel, including bus shelters, traffic calming, footpaths and cycle ways
In a unique move the Council has agreed that all the money raised from the sale of land for development in Canley will be reinvested in Canley to help meet your priorities.
An Outline Planning Application was approved in 2009. The Planning Committee also listened to local residents views, for example, the proposed new housing on the corner of Charter Avenue and Mitchell Avenue will now be no more than three storeys high.
The next stage will involve drawing up more detailed individual plans, and the Council will continue to ensure the community are involved.
The main points in the outline planning application are covered in the special edition of the Regenerating Canley newsletter. You can see the application online here.
Further information about the Outline Planning Application can be viewed in the frequently asked questions section.
How do I get involved
Canley Regeneration Forum is your chance to find out more about Canley regeneration and to get involved.
The meetings are structured sessions with an agenda and usually last the full two hours. The drop in sessions give you an opportunity to pop in and find out what's happening.
Everyone is welcome including children and young people.
Meeting dates for 2010 will be announced shortly.
For further information about the Canley Regeneration Forum, please contact Richard Dale on 024 7683 2090.
