Coventry City Council (Local) elections
Coventry City Council is divided into 18 wards each with three Councillors. Councillors are elected by a simple majority and serve for four years at a time. Elections are held in three years out of four on the first Thursday in May.

Parliamentary elections
Parliamentary or General Elections are held at least every five years and can be called at any time which the Government of the day chooses. Coventry has three Parliamentary Constituencies, Coventry North East, Coventry North West and Coventry South, each represented by one Member of Parliament (MP).
European elections
The European Parliament serves for a fixed term of five years, and the elections were held on 4 June 2009. Coventry is part of a very large West Midlands Constituency which is represented by 7 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
