About the Coventry Communications Centre
When the City Council’s telephone exchange closes each day, during weekends and bank holidays, an emergency call service is provided by the Coventry Communications Centre. We provide a point of contact for anyone requiring emergency assistance or advice anytime day or night.
We operate a city wide and comprehensive radio network. Many mobile staff are connected through this network which provides fully integrated communications and safety support at all times.
Should any incidents occur we provide a manual or electronic logging facility. Never a day goes by without one or more of the blue light services requiring our assistance.
We also operate a Lone Worker system that can be used by anyone carrying a mobile phone. It's very simple to use and staff log in and out with their personal pin code. We can monitor their messages to check where they are should an emergency arise.
We pride ourselves in the fact that we can respond to any emergency that requires the City Council to respond. When the Coventry Air disaster took place, we provided a communication service for the Emergency Planning officer, which linked through to all the council services that were required.
The Coventry Communications Centre team remained on site 24 hours a day for six weeks after the incident providing emergency lighting and security to ensure that the area was safe for investigators and members of the public.
Our officers are trained in first aid to ensure that if they are first to arrive at an incident then immediate help will be provided until further assistance arrives. We provide a 24 hour service for the City Council and provide support to noise pollution investigation officers and respond to unsociable behaviour.
Services for schools
We receive many requests from schools regarding repairs, unauthorised persons on site and heating failures - to which we provide a response.
School patrols were set up to combat growing vandalism problems within Coventry schools.
It was decided at the same time that this patrol would also respond to alarm activations. Given the capacity of the Coventry Communication Centre to monitor alarm activations, schools were encouraged to invest in cost effective fire and intruder alarm systems and CCTV. With this combination, a fast response service is provided and now school risk factors have dramatically reduced over the years.
These days, fire activations have to be verified before the Fire Service will attend. Our Officers are able to verify either whilst on patrol or by using CCTV.

Our technology, our management systems and our services are all designed to meet rigorous quality standards.
