Coventry City Council
We have 54 councillors who represent 18 wards across the city. The Conservative group is in control of the council with 27 councillors while Labour make up 24 of the council's membership. Two council members represent the Socialists, and one represents the Liberal Democratic Party.
Our councillors:
All 54 councillors make major decisions about policies and services at a Full Council meeting held in the Council Chamber every six weeks.
Other meetings are held throughout the year - visit our Committee Management Information System to view all scheduled meeting dates, as well as accessing information about the meeting agendas, minutes and reports.
Government watchdogs have praised our council members for their leadership. As representatives of over 300,000 residents they have a big responsibility to act on behalf of the community in the best way possible.
The Audit Commission has judged Coventry City Council to be one of the fastest improving local authorities in the country. The Council continues to improve and is now classed as a three star council.
Our officers:
Coventry City Council is the biggest organisation in Coventry. Its 16,000 employees are headed by a Chief Executive, who manages the day-to-day running of the council, and who works alongside a Management Board of a further nine senior officers each with his or her particular portfolio.
