Foleshill's people and places

Foleshill is a multi-racial area and is the home of many people whose families originated from the Indian Sub Continent. It is also the home of many recent arrivals from parts of the world that are suffering conflict.

Foleshill has a large number of shops along the main roads through the district, particularly Foleshill Road and Stoney Stanton Road. The main shopping centre is at the General Wolfe (named after a public house at the junction of Foleshill Road and Stoney Stanton Road).

Foleshill is one of the oldest of Coventry's suburbs and was developed mainly during Victorian times. It is a mixed area with houses, shops and industries side by side. Foleshill Sport and Leisure Centre is located on Livingstone Road and there is a community library on Broad Street. A brand new Children's Centre has recently opened on Foleshill Road.

The largest park in Foleshill is Edgwick Park, which hosts an annual Foleshill Festival. Other community activities include the celebration of Diwali.
